One thing I don’t like doing is talking about my job or academic subjects that involves my grad school courses because they already take up an enormous part of my life. When I’m out and about I want to do/talk something that’s completely unrelated. However, one of the 1st questions you’ll get asked when meeting someone new is: What do you do for a living? And here is when I give a gentle smile and tell the induvial I do research for a university, and pray I don’t get bombarded with crazy questions. Just to be clear, I’m not the type to put people beneath me because I think my job is more “prestigious” than others, but lately though I’ve been getting some crazy questions. Mind you that most of these questions comes from when I’m at a bar downtown with my friends watching football games or hanging out, but here are some of my favorite questions I got asked before.
A man around his 40s asked “That’s amazing my dude… Tell me though. What’s the boiling point for semen?” I literally almost spit up my vodka. What kind of research do you actually think I do at the uni?! What really got me is that this guy acted like he was genuinely offended that I didn’t know this and questioned my whole existence as a biologist. Put down that martini. That’s enough alcohol for you old man.
This girl that claims she was in human anatomy was talking about baby gender determination. It all went downhill when she asked this question. “If two lesbians have a baby, does it automatically come out as a girl?” At first, I was totally convinced that this girl was trolling me, but it became clear that she was dead serious when she was cursing me out and getting red because I told her that two lesbians can’t have a child because an egg and an egg can’t produce an offspring. Till this day I’m still confused on what the fuck happened back then.
At one of my coworker’s party I was describing how to do simple stoichiometry for finding out how much of a particular chemical is produced in some cycle. He then asked. “Oh wait! So .5 and a half are the same thing?” ……. Why yes ….Yes it is…Mr. Lawyer guy.
Anyways. That’s three that I find myself still shaking my head over. Sometimes very interesting conversations can come up, but not in these cases.

Jamie’s week been pretty hectic, so we decided to go bar hopping tonight. I think it’s something we both needed. Her boss is pressing a lot from her lately. She have to pick up the slack until her employer hire another chem engineer. I’ve been busy with crossfit, working full time at the university doing research, and taking on two classes in grad school. Times like this is needed, even if it’s only for two hours.
I feel really relax sitting in bed right now waiting on Jamie to come to bed. Still debating if I should go to crossfit at 5:30am like I always do or sleep in and go into work at 9am. Love you guys. I’ll blog again shortly.

Happy 59th to my mom! Crazy how time always fly by so quickly. Moving to Austin has put a strain on our relationship. A lot of it is on my end. I just don’t tell her a lot of detail of what’s going on in my life and what I’m doing. Like she was surprised when I came back home for her bday with new tattoos or the fact that I took a permanent job in Austin and moved downtown in the city. Sometimes she takes it as I don’t want her deep in my life, but that’s far from the truth. I just don’t share a lot of things with people. I’ll put it on my instagram or other social media and that’s about it for sharing. Both my parents don’t utilize social media, so I need to directly talk to them more. Always will have max respect for her and the impact she has and continue to have in my life. I go back to Austin on Sunday and I’m dreading it. Anyways, she wanted to go to the casino, so I gave her some bills and that what we did. Great to be around the family and catching up with them all.

I miss this fury beast so much! My dad picked me up from track practice in my sophomore year and surprised me with this bundle of joy. Hate to say it, but I was more excited to see Cassie than seeing my brothers again. Probably one of the hardest decisions was to leave Cassie back in Louisiana with my parents when I made the move to Texas. For Cassie, Louisiana is home and she have a a huge yard to run around and she’ll never have to spend a moment alone. If she was to live with me she would be stuck in a apartment until I get to walk her and be alone most if the day while I was away at work or whatever. Her staying was hard, but it was for the best for her.

Annndd Congrats to Ericka and Jasmine for getting married the weekend before this! Love is Love.

After the Casino my dad took my mom out on a date, so a couple of my friends came along and hanged with Jamie and I on Bourbon Street! It was a legit evening with a lot of laughs. Jamie is not shy, so she warmed up to everyone pretty easily. Left around 1am ish.
Okay! Q/A will be done every Sunday 10pm central or whenever I get back in from that day. Just leave me a question on askme and I will answer then. Be sure to follow me on Twitter @AnoleCreole so you can see my answers. They will be posted there and of course askme.
Normally, I don’t go out to bars often during the weekdays, but I made an exception. Pretty chilled night w/ my friends and met some new people. I’m surprised that I actually was able to get up and go to Crossfitt 5:30AM. Dragging so much ass today though, but so worth it.
